I kind of like the small, unobtrusive avatars here. Perhaps 80x80 to make the images clearer, but 135 sounds a bit large to me .

Well, I'm used to the 105x150 avatars used in another forum, but the layout is much larger over there and can handle that size. You couldn't go much bigger than what you have now without stretching the tables. If you were going to go larger, I would suggest portrait-style dimensions, e.g. 65x130. That'd work better for me anyway.

65 x 65 looks right for the rest of the page's format. I'd keep it as is.

What you have going now looks pretty good to me. I'd leave it for now.

It is the text that is the important part of this forum. Please dont make this into a gif-war with a Fare-feel to it

I like smaller avatars/graphics on a forum were words are the main communication.

Avatars are actually useful and handy, because they make it much easier to tell, even with peripheral vision, whose post you're looking at. But they don't need to be anywhere near 130x65 to be effective to that end. I run 1920x1200 resolution, and the current size is perfectly adequate for me. I don't like obnoxious graphics distracting me.

The only thing I would increase is the text size of buttons, these tired old eyes[my prob, I know, LOL] have a little prob discerning what they say,so a slight increase would be helpful

For me, the buttons are somewhat hard to read as well, mostly because of the poor contrast of white text on medium-blue backgrounds.

definitely much more readable. id say the bigger one is better, though wide buttons might be problematic for some browsers if there are too many of them on one row. did you just enlarge the images? seems like the text looks too good for that..

Mouser, I used Irfanview, went to: "Image/Resize Resample" & increased the heigth by 4 pixels in #1, 2 more pixels in #2, left width at original setting, hope that helps You should be able to batch resize all buttons w/ your image editor and then replace them in your forum layout prgm. PS: don't get me to lyin as I'm not familiar w/ website layout at all LOL

thats not a bad idea at all, and it would be easy to do. i'm going to try that and also look at some alternate button sets on the simplemachines site and see what's best/ need to do some other things first though.. so much to do so little time.

I voted no, but I'm starting to think 400x600 would be good, we could see details on those pictures much, much better.
