« on: September 08, 2006, 01:42 AM »
I must have a thousand lps, so i just my grab this..

This Plug 'n' Play USB turntable can digitize your treasured vinyl LP collection so you can listen to it on your computer. The turntable includes software to edit and cleanup your digitized audio files and it can be connected to your stereo system and used as a standard turntable as well. Includes felt slipmat, 45-rpm adapter, line level RCA cables, USB cable and recording software on CD-ROM. Requires Windows 98SE/Me/2000/XP or Mac OS 9+. MP3 recording requires third-party encoder, not included.

cool.

you've reminded me that i've not converted most of my vinyl and tape music.

now, i'd consider buying something like this turntable if it played the record at say five times the speed of what the record should play at - you could then get through your collection of vinyl a lot quicker and slow the digital recording back down to the proper speed during the conversion process. if it recorded at a good sample rate i think everything would work fine - it wouldn't be dependent on your audio card capabilities as the turntable is the recording device (as i understand it).

Thousand lps?   :tellme:  Wow!  I guess this would be a cool idea.  But the sound quality will not be that great.  And to clean it up would take some time and still not be near CD quality.  So it might be better to replace the lps with equivalent CDs, mp3s, etc.  Unless of course you cannot find the lp in another format or it's just too cost prohibative.

Can save yourself $20 over here:

I wonder if the device is particularly good, but it's a pretty cute idea :)
