quickdoclauncher.exe
lanux128:
what does quickdoclauncher.exe do? other than launch documents quickly..? :P
can i use it independently from f+rr?
mouser:
some documents, like ms office documents, have a strange effect on the program that tries to launch them, and essentially lock up the process for a few seconds even if executes with "shellexecute", so essentially when farr finds a program that it thinks could do this to it, it instead launches quickdocklauncher.exe with commandline parameters that instruct it what document to launch, so that farr can resume working right away.
bottom line, not very useful to you outside of farr use.
lanux128:
so, f+rr doesn't just "double-click" on the Word documents, it sends the file to quickdoclauncher... ok, if it keeps f+rr sprightly..
P.S. try googling quickdoclauncher.exe

Should this thread be marked as "CLOSED"?
Just tidying-up my FARR directory and I noticed this.
Not sure what the status of quickdoclauncher.exe is at present - does not seem to do anything useful(?) but is still part of FARR currently (or at least, part of FindAndRunRobotPortable v2.229.01, anyway).
Is it obsolete?
mouser:
I believe FARR will still use it on occasion, but there is now an option to tell FARR when to use it:
