Good Logo Creation Tools?
(1/1)
mouser:
I thought people might post some good Logo making tools..
Here's one mentioned today on http://www.larkware.com/:
GreenBox Logo Creator - http://www.studio-v5.com/greenbox/index.htm
And a well known one, LaughingBird The Logo Creator 5 - http://www.thelogocreator.com/
Those are both commercial.
Anyone know any others? Should we include some box-art creation tools?

For this price you should have a look at a general vector graphics program like Xara eXtreme ($79):

besides all the standard graphics apps (tho I would first turn to drawing apps), you might also consider Font tools, Outlining apps, Photo-to-art (or sketch), etc. Maybe even Icon programs. I usually use Freehand, but I approach it as a Graphic Artist. It really depends on how you see the end result. What I like the Logo apps for is for brain-storming and noodling to get ideas. There's a ton of applets and web resources that are good for that sort of thing too.

For quick and dirty (and nice looking) I use The Logo Creator 5.
But if I have time I like Inkscape or PhotoShop.

Hey...don't underestimate the power of MS Paint!
Most of the best logos all have 1 thing in common: simplicity
You don't need fancy expensive tools to make simplicity.
Just take a look at the top 250 corporate logos and you will see:

A lot of these logos have been around longer than there have been computers.
and this little logo is quite simple and you'd recognize it even without the text:
