@Carol: Well, I suppose you could say that. I don't much like the winter, so having a little summer on my desktop helps a little :D

@Curt: Hehe, what can I say... I like pretty things ;)

@icekin: I make the occational wallpaper myself, but most of them are collected from all over the web. My "Wallpapers" folder is now well over 3 GB and contains more than 7000 images... I do have a small wallpaper site up and running though. It's just something I set up for users of another forum I visit, so that we could exchange our wallpapers. I don't really mention it much outside of that forum, but if you'd like to see if there's something you'd like there, the url is: http://gallery.thesecondscreen.com/

Dirhael, I think iceskin was referring to the image on the desktop that you posted. I don't think he'll find it on your forum considering there's no actual wallpapers there! (unless I'm missing something so obvious I can't see it ;) )

Please post the link to the author or site of the image. Thanks.

The large "Gallery" link at the top of the page wasn't obvious enough? :P

If you just want this specific image, I got if from here..

heheh, like I said! The colour of the menu bar at the top is dark like my Firefox toolbar so I didn't even see it there! hahaha  ;D

Interestingly, i also didn't find that link, i understood you meant that the photos were on the forum itself.

Anyways, VERY good material there, Dirhael! I think you should make a post here on the forum showing afew images of the great wallpapers in that site, i bet people would love to get new wallpapers! (i know i do :P)

*jgpaiva* runs to get a new wallpaper

Yes, I have a few icons. :-)

It's spread across 4 monitors, resolution 5120x1024 (nVidia NVS 440 quad-head video card).

What can I say?  I saw Swordfish and can't remember the rest of the movie after that scene with the multi-monitor workstation.  :-)

care to say what you use the four screens for - always nosey, i mean nice to know what DC'ers use their machine for.

Monitor 1: Static quick-launch shortcuts and toolbars, mostly.  Often I'll watch movies or TV full-screen on this one while I toil.  If I'm working from a customer's email, I'll often leave the document up here for reference.

Monitors 2 & 3: Primary workspace.

Monitor 4: Gadgets and timers, Process Explorer here nearly 100% of the time.  Also, spillover from monitor #3 if I've got a LOT of crap open.

Here's what it looks like on a typical day:

Why is it, Ralf, that you insist on playing Eve to my Adam? My wife, whose alter-ego in this little analogy I'll leave to your imagination, will go ballisitic and cast me from the family home if I go out and buy a secondary (Note: not a tertiary or quaternary, but a lowly SECONDARY) monitor. Yet there you are, with your four monitor setup, parading it in front of me, saying "Go on. You know you want to".

You're killing me...

I finally go around to putting two video cards in my box. I had pulled the old one out when I put the new one in, but just recently realized I could have just left it in there. So just last weekend I put it back in. I currently have three monitors connected and the fourth will be connected as soon as I get around to physically moving it over and connecting it. how do I use them? pretty much like Ralf.

In no particular order...

1) Documentation / Reference Materials
2) communications -- email, IM, IRC, etc
3&4) IDE and tools plus the application I am working on itself while debugging.

I'll be 5120x1024 as well.

I should really read replies to my posts more often  :-\ But you wouldn't be too far from the truth. I always used to have a plain black desktop. Its only very recently that I have started using wallpapers, and even then I typically go for minimalistic ones that avoid excessive colors and gradients.

Well, the number of clicks were worthful. That wallpaper is very funny ;D

Hmmm, interesting site the one of yours, Dirhael. Particularly the NSFW section... :D (love your avatar there hehe)

The Second Screen sure have some nice wall papers,  :-*
but to me they have so far been thumb nails only.

I had no problems viewing your screenshots in "Guide: Visual Styles".

Wait, what? Never heard of such a problem with the gallery before... I don't really see how that is even possible, as am really just passing the image straight to your browser, so the problem is not on the server side...though, is it possible that you are running some security software that messes with the headers somehow...?

In any case, I rewrote the part responsible for passing the fullsized image to your browser and also changed the header somewhat, so please try again :)

EDIT: Oh and "Penny-Arcadians" are members of the Penny Arcade forums :)

Thanks for trying, Dirhael. Sadly it didn't improve anything in my end of the line. Maybe I some time ago told some program not to accept web redirections - I am not sure. I have no problem downloading all sorts of pictures from elsewhere! Second Screen is added to Trusted. But you are storing all these pictures somewhere else, arn't you? I think you are, because Aaron's WebVacuum found thumbs only, at the 2'nd Screen site. If so, can you supply the store's address?

I've just spend an hour at Penny Arcade's forum's Wallpaper section. You have some gifted guys in the crowd. After some time I also found a few things that I liked.

Strange... I just don't get why the images won't show up for you. It really shouldn't be possible for it to fail, at least server-side. That said, I added an alternative "Download" link to the gallery today so you could try using that instead :)

Forgot to mention: a GREAT source for free wallpapers is DeviantArt:
http://browse.devian...er=9&alltime=yes

This is one of the few sites I've been able to find multi-monitor wallpapers that don't suck.
