ScreenshotCaptor (Link) in autostart
« on: June 26, 2018, 04:30 AM »
Unexpectedly SecreenshotCaptor doesn´t  start automatically when a link to it is placed in the autostart folder.

Just a guess: Windows 10, with all the latest updates? For some reason Windows 'forgets' to start some applications configured this way, I'm still hoping that it will get fixed, some day, but I'm not holding my breath...

ScreenshotCaptor is the best utility by far regardless of autostart

Latest Version integrate with System Registry, not by autostart link.

Cheers

With latest build, go to options and check that: Screenshot - 26_06.jpgScreenshotCaptor (Link) in autostart (you might need to run with adminrights since its writing to registry without aquiring some)

Could that be that your screenshot is from automaticScreenshotter, not from ScreenshotCaptor? And, so far,  I can´t find options in ScreenshotCaptor.

I found that. Thx. But I can´t find what is shown in ScreenshotCaptor Help. A view with a title bar (white letters on blue background: "Screenshot Captor Options") as here.

Screenshot of ScreenshotCaptor Help, not of ScreenshotCaptor.

What version of screenshot captor do you have?  That's a really old dialog... It's been a treeview for a while now.

In the new preferences dialog it's on the "Startup Options" tab of the dialog, second down from top:

It's the help file that's out of date. I see the same screenshots of the settings in the help file that HelmutWe posted above.

german explain on how to do things

Vielen Dank nochmal. Many thanks to all of you.

Another day, another try at hearing the meanwhile familiar >click< when hitting [PrtScr] after a reboot. Without opening captor at first. Can´t get it to work. No way:
I open Captor by clicking on the big icon on the desktop. Captor resides minimized in the notification area. Left click on the upwards arrow: Right click on the small captor icon. Left click preferences, ensure that "start with windows" is on. Repeat this procedure several times. Don´t know how often. But then after the n-th attempt, the left click on preferences makes the captor window to vanish.  No matter. It´s OK. "start with windows" is on anyway, I presume.  Open and run captor as admin: Allow changes: Yes: >Edit  >Preferences  "start with windows" is still on: [Apply] [Accept] [Close]: Check Autostart in Task-Manager: ScreenshotCaptor is activated. Reboot: [...]: No >click<: No Icon in the notifcation area. Disappointed. Do I expect too much?

I still assume it's a Windows thingy, other applications don't get started, even though their autostart is on, or link in Startup folder available :(

Your Windows Admin Account may differ from Logon Account.
A fix would be porting the HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

If you do not know how to do this mouser could create a small Registration-Fixer for this situation.

Please mind, this is not an application 'error', more of an anomaly of Windows itself.
Happens to other applications as well and depends on the local Windows installation, even though these applications write the settings there correctly...

@KodeZwerg: I certainly could handle your proposal, with some effort. But before I try: Is it very likely to work at least? Of course, in the end nobody knows. I do not demand a guarantee. I surely got the latest Versions of Windows and Captor.

Let me take a look at the startup code and see if I can see anything.
