How DC.com made me a donator
« on: July 27, 2006, 05:08 AM »
When I first discovered DonationCoder.com I was a little reluctant to embrace the idea of "having to" donate (I know that I don't actually have to donate to get a free license) to start using the awesome programs here. I left DC.com but returned later and changed my mind on the whole idea and donated a small amount, which sort of really opened up [praise]the wonderful features of DonationCoder.com[/praise].

Since I became a charter member, I stopped "conveniently overlooking" the PayPal-links from various freeware/Open source sites I regularly visit and actually started clicking these. I'm by no means rich, so I generally donate 5-10$ but at least now I actually do donate, to show my appreciation to all the developers out there providing great software free of charge!

In conclusion: DonationCoder.com made my do it!

Yes, that's what I'm hoping for. Anyone else with a similar experience?

I've had a somewhat similar experience. I definitely consider donations much more seriously now, and do donate more often. I suppose it's the same with you; discretion is still exercised, but things that truly deserve donations actually get them from me now. It sounds like the same for you. If there are more like us, the donation model can be successful.
