White text gets white shadows?

I'd really like to change the color of the bar to black or a really dark gray but all the bar font when turned to white or another light color has a white shadow that makes it super hard to read.

Hmm.. Have you tried messing with the "Appearance Skin" option on the main options tab (topmost node in configuration dialog).

That worked, though now how do I change the popup menu colors?
I can change the menu font to white but I can't seem to change the menus themselves to black.
