spring cleaning
« on: July 04, 2006, 11:12 PM »
thought we might have a thread for people who have stuff to get rid of that others might want.
do not post anything that you want money for - this is only if you have stuff to give away.

1. i have a giant box of 30 or 40 used audio books on cassette that i have accumulated over the years.  tons of stephen king books, stuff like that.  all unabridged.  i'll split it up into separate gifts if multiple people want, for first people that respond.  dont request unless you really want a big collection of such books on TAPE.

2. i have a few graphic novels (marvel universe x, cristis on infinite earths, from hell, inhumans, marvels, league of extraordinary gentlemen).  anyone who doesn't have these and wants them please post.

not good enough for you sods huh?

any takers for this watch:

pclink.jpg

pdf manual is here: http://ftp.casio.co....al/wat/en/qw1510.pdf

used to be the bees knees - basicly can store contact info, todo list, plus all the other normal watch stuff.  its a bit thick.  (see the manual above for all the details).

it's about 6 years old and still rund great, BUT i dont have the pc infrared link thingy to connect it to your pc, so you'll have to skip
that or find a way around it (i heard you can link to some pdas?) - so this might be good for a tinkerer.  preferences will be given to first requestor who likes tinkering with hardware, etc.  see this page to view the insides of it: http://www.electrics...o.uk/casiowatch.html

i am the current owner of the official donationcoder shared wacom intuos 3 tablet (kindly given to me by mouser).

it is now time to pass it onto another DC member.

if you've ever wondered what it is like to use a wacom tablet then now is your chance - the drawing area is only about 5 x 3 inches but it's enough to give you and idea.

please understand that you will be expected to pass this item on to another DC member when you have decided it is of no further use/enjoyment - unless, of course, you absolutely love it.

let me know...

nudone - hamradio seemed very interested in the tablet at the time i passed it along to you - he might be the perfect recipient, if he still want it.

dilema - josh has also asked if there have been any takers for the tablet.

but, as hamradio was the first to ask and i see that josh has already claimed the watch above then it seems fair to let hamradio have the tablet.

i shall wait until hamradio has made a comment before doing anything further.

maybe if josh and hamradio could just state what their interest is in the tablet - have they used one before, do they agree to pass it on if it doesn't suit their needs.

Man, I used to be really into these books.  I'd like to check out Inhumans if you still have it available.  I know I have crisis on infinite earths, but I don't know if I have universe x (the stories are so confusing, and it's been a few years).  If I don't have universe x, I'll read that one also.  When I go home, I'll check.

I don't know which book it was in, but I read some epic story about the Inhumans and Black Bolt.  Something about the worlds that were going to die and Black Bolt somehow saves the day.  Something like that.

for all the old school Atari 2600 freaks:

a compact Atari 2600 (NTSC...not PAL)
This is not the huge unit that was made in the 70's, it's the much smaller, nicer one that was made in the 80's.

a bunch of games:
(I have doubles of these)

Combat
Donkey Kong
Pitfall
Dodge 'em
E.T.
Asteroids
(list will grow as I find out what games the family doesn't want and are willing to part with)

These will be included with the necessary (2) keyboard controllers:

BASIC Programming
Hunt & Score
Codebreaker
Brain Games

Additionally, I have a trackball controller that can be used in place of a joystick that will be included.

not included: joysticks, paddle controllers, a universal AC adapter, the cable to connect it to the TV (you will have to supply these)

package deal...one person gets them all. I don't want to split this up. I'll ship it to anybody in the US.

Wow, what a cool thread! I'd say yes to the Atari in a heartbeat but then I look behind me and see (literally) about 50 old computers and I remember I really shouldn't be taking on any more ancient computers for the moment. :D

I have a Wacom tablet from my short stay at AIO for Graphic Design. They are great if you do almost any kind of work in image editing programs, and you can get some amazing drawing and painting effects in Photoshop that are basically impossible with a mouse.

i am the current owner of the official donationcoder shared wacom intuos 3 tablet (kindly given to me by mouser).

it is now time to pass it onto another DC member.

I have a hauppage wintv tuner from an old pc of mine. This is a PCI form factor device, and was known to work in the computer it was in. If anyone is interested, please, inquire within.

Got one more goodie for you all. Not sure how many of you this will be helpful too, but, I have a copy of Hobbyware Pattern maker Standard edition 4.05. This program allows you to generate cross stitch patterns using the built in editor, or via image importing. This has come in really handy for my wife (which is why we purchased the pro edition) and I feel anyone who cross stitches will find this extremely useful.

More info at http://www.hobbyware.com

I do x-stitch...but I have always charted my patterns by hand with sketches, graph paper and a light table. (takes at least 10 hrs of work to make a pattern)

I also do beadwork, which some x-stitch patterns can be adapted for that, depending on the pattern and the style of beadwork I am doing.

I have tried various programs for it but never really liked the patterns it generated. They either required you to spend a small fortune on a zillion thread colors, used rare colors that were more expensive and harder to find, or were 50% half-stitches. (I hate half-stitches!) And none of them ever included backstitching definition.

I'll try the trial version of Pattern Maker and let you know if I like it.

This hangs on the wall of where my husband used to work. People have commented that I made it look a lot like my husband.  :D
