Directory replicator for Windows
« on: January 14, 2016, 10:28 AM »
Hi,

Does anybody know if there is a programme that can duplicate a directory tree to another allocation without the files inside the original one?

Basically, just replicate the folder structure; ideally, a programme we can define the level of sub-directories to replicate.

Thanks

http://www.nextofwin...t-copying-everything

Edit: see XXCopy for limiting folder depth.  It comes in various versions both free and paid.  You would need to check their site(a link is provided in the article) for which switches are supported in which version.

Failing that a google can find copies of xcopy.exe to download if you don't have it on your system.

A little late, but if you are interested in a GUI solution, XYplorerFree (freeware -- http://www.xyplorer.com/free.php) has it. Just drag (with right mouse button) a folder(s) anywhere and select "Create Branch(es) Here" to replicate the directory structure(s) without the files. (No control over the levels though.)

As a side note I have seen the Pro version on giveaway lately.  I installed it a couple of weeks ago from a promotional download.  But I notice it continues to pop up now and then on the giveaway sites.
