Does anyone have like a little mini guide on how to apply skins using VclSkin... I just downloaded the straight-up zip file and need some help... Kind of new to BCB 2006...

I have tried alot, lol, and still cant get this thing working... I have the Borland C++ Builder 2006... When I try to open one of the the examples, i cant... there are errors out the wazoo... Leading me to believe that it doesn't quite work with bcb2006... not sure though... I am only 18 years old and just started my classes for college programming in the Computer Science field... so, if I sound stupid, dont laugh too hard! lol!

well i must admit i've not used it in bds2006, just bcb6..

did you get it installed ok, and its just the demos you are having trouble with?

in http://www.link-rank...load/vclskinbcb2.zip
there is a sample in the "CB6 Demo" directory..  study that.

you don't sound stupid at all.. just take your time and figure it out.. you will learn more by figuring it out than by someone telling you how to do it :)

kk... I downloaded the VCLSkin App. Only prob is that the CB6 Demo and project files aren't compatible with BDS2006... My luck... lol! I am not sure if there is going to be any skinning app's for this version of Borland's Developer Studio due to the fact that the BDS2006 App is relatively new itself... Which leads me to believe that If i wanna skin something for the time being, i am going to need to find an application that i can use for BCB4.0... Outdated? yes, i agree... but... I would be able to get a grip on how the skinning process is executed in its entirety... So, with further investigation, I tried looking for some of those BCB 4.0 skinners, but no luck finding one.. So, if you find one let me know...

and p.s.- Is there an assignment #3 for BCB/Delphi??

A nice free & legal copy of C++ Builder 6 Personal here:

http://ncsp.forum.no...la;asset_id=206;ref=

Click 'I agree' and it's yours.

It is part of a Nokia S60 SDK but you don't have to install that part, you can just install the IDE.

There is a serial pre-embedded into it...you don't have to change a thing or register with Borland to get a different one (you can if you want, I guess)...just install & enjoy.

Free Delphi 6 Personal (matches the BCB 6 personal)

http://www.borland.p.../delphi6personal.exe

You still have to visit the Borland site to get a free key for it though.

Just go to the Delphi Downloads section and at the bottom click the link for the CD-key only...fill out a short survey and make an account.  They will email you the key and you can get all the updates available for D6 Personal too.

You can get the key to Delphi Personal 7, that Rover posted the link to, there too.

Then go here and select the updates you want and log into your account you made to get them.

For some reason you can download Dephi 6 PE updates but not for version 7 (even if you have registered and everything). The V7 updates require you to login byt they don't accept the Delphi 7 PE account you set up.
