Cyberfox / Firefox updated to 41.0x
« on: September 23, 2015, 08:31 AM »
Firefox stable updated to 41.0

Cyberfox stable updated to 41.01

With Cyberfox in Help About check for updates it will bring you to the page for download without auto doing anything. At least that is how it goes for me.  Perhaps I have Autoupdate disabled.  :)

In Firefox I get the installer and run it rather than using the updater.  The Mozilla page has that installer stub.  I prefer the whole installer.  Got mine here:

you can still get the full installer from Mozilla's site, you can also check out the "What’s New" link from the download page.

When I need to download Firefox, I prefer to get it from the Mozilla FTP site:

https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/

From this directory you can navigate to the stub or offline installer for nearly any release, beta, or nightly build.

It's back to 40.03 for me.  41 is giving me all kinds of bizarre crashes, does strange stuff when I type a letter with the shift key down(link instead of a capital A it might scroll all the way down the page and jump out of the edit box.)

I don't know what the coders are smokin' but it must have paraquat as the main ingredient.   :(

I'm currently testing Firefox 41.0 (32-bit) and haven't experienced anything like that...yet.

I was running an anti-tracking addon.  Maybe it didn't like it.  Anyway there's no big reason for me to use 41 when 40 seems fine.

I tried 42.x beta and it still crashes like crazy.  I went back to 39.03.  Much smoother sailing.

Cyberfox keeps losing my KeeFox extension's toolbar button.  :(

I am still using the 18.x Flash Player.  It seems to work fairly well with 39.03 FF

I have the latest Slimjet chrome based browser.  It uses Pepper Flash and has the version you are supposed to use preloaded.  It is still on 18.x also.

I'm back on mainline Firefox after years of Waterfox/Pale Moon/Cyberfox. Finally, KeeFox stays in my toolbar. The 64-bit build feels adequately fast.

I just noticed that Firefox 42 comes with a "mute this tab" functionality. Lovely.  :-*

hmm... it's not just video it can't play properly. I used to record entire albums off my ISP's site, but now I can only record one track at a time, and then the page will start ''stumbling'' and ruin the sound. Only sometimes is it enough to merely refresh the page, very often I must even restart Firefox!

Must I really downgrade to upgrade?

After twenty minutes of testing: Firefox 41.0.2 could record four tracks ^, but no more, before it began stumbling.

I am not at all happy with this development.   :(
