What software do you use to create an Audio CD?
« on: September 11, 2015, 06:36 PM »
Hi folks,

It's been forever since I burned audio files to an actual Audio CD, but recently the need/desire has sprung up and I can't for the life of me remember what software I used to use to do this. I mostly just use ImgBurn when I need to create or burn a disc image, but what do you use if you want to burn MP3s to an Audio CD?

I'm on Windows 10 Pro x64.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. Please don't suggest iTunes. I am not installing that on my system.

When it comes to makng AUDIO cds, I've been really happy with CDBurnerXP, which is free:

Note 1: For non-audio cd burning i use ImgBurn.
Note 2: CDBurnerXP may use OpenCandy.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Looks like you can also get OpenCandy-free installers of CDBurnerXP as well:

ImgBurn can burn audio CDs too, just follow this guide or you can use Burrrn.

EZ CD Audio Converter (Because I own a license) is still the first tool in my kit although I can say I haven't installed it in years.

Same here. Excellent ripper/burner! And I have a lifetime license. (Not sure3 whose lifetime... but it has lasted through several changes and upgrades so far.) This one is definitely the best all-around that I have used.

I used Ashampoo because they are easy to figure out how to use, and always gives fair quality. I have several Ashampoo licenses and I don't get any spam from them or their dealers; it just takes half a minute to first do the "contact"-settings - otherwise one will drown in a river of emails. Ashampoo Burning Studio "Pro" is at version 15, but version 14 is FREE. https://www.ashampoo...a/6/burning-software

Also, Ashampoo uninstalls without leaving any traces.

There's also StarBurn which has a portable version and is free if you don't want the ability to burn over TCP/IP, (which is a whole $4.95 otherwise).

For a free audio CD burner CDBurnerXP is always there.  Frequently updated.  Also you just drag and drop FLAC, mp3, whatever and it can autoconvert on the fly.

Plus it has basic cover/insert printing if you don't care about anything fancy.

I used to like burrrn.  But as the OS number increases it seems to aquire more quirks as I don't think it is updated anymore.  It worked pretty well for me in Vista.

Ashampoo Music Studio here, they giveaway the previous version on a general basis. Works fairly well.

Actually these days I burn audio DVDs, not CDs.  You can put tons more music on them.  I can put long operas on them and can put more than one usually on a single DVD whereas it would usually take multiple CDs for the same piece.  INdividual songs, well I have not counted how many but it can hold a ton of them.

It is a good point, but you have to be quite careful when burning them, as some players can't read them unless they're burned in a certain fashion.
