File naming template
« on: June 17, 2015, 01:59 PM »
I use the auto-increment file naming option.  If I set the number to say, 100 and do a bunch of screen captures (save but not show), everything works correctly.  When I reboot the computer and reload ScreenCapture, it starts  over again at 100, not where it left off when I rebooted.

First let me confirm something -- are we talking about you modifying this number:

What might be happening is that on reboot, the program isn't getting a chance to save it's settings.  One quick thing to test would be to manually exit screenshot captor and restart it, and see if it resumes where it was when you exited.  If so then it's working correctly except for reboot.  let me know.

And does it save the proper incremented value if you exit and restart manually?

You don't happen to have this setting checked do you? :

No, I don't have that checked.  One other thought, I'm not using the default "save" directory.

If I manually exit, then restart it, it appears to work fine.  So you post about windows shutting down to fast may be true.
I'll have to give that a test the next time I reboot.  I'll post then.

I have 2 screen prints that show the problem.  But I don's see a way to post a file here.
Here are 2 links to the screen prints on Dropbox:
https://www.dropbox....01817%20002.png?dl=0

https://www.dropbox....01818%20002.png?dl=0

As you can see, the last screen shot was 1837.  When I shutdown and restarted the computer, it came backup with 1817.

Ok so it seems the problem is with it failing to save that value on system shutdown -- I will fix.

sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.  I'm sorry I can't find a perfectly repeatable sequence of steps that would reproduce the problem.

Sorry for my unrelated question about file naming template but I don't know the better thread to ask this.

Are there any way I can change %datetime% format so that the file name is in the form of 'Screenshot-YYYYmmdd_HHMMSS.png', i.e. starting with year-month-day-hour-minute-second, and using 24hr format.  This way window can sort files in chronological order easily.

Oops, I found the answer to my own questions, just modify the 'Custom Date Format'.  Sorry for the interruption.  :D

Sorry to bump such an old topic, but I've run into this and am struggling to get this to work correctly.
I've started to come across several websites that don't like the comma in the filename that the normal datetime file generates so I want to change the name.
To me the instructions imply that if I put $dt:%DATEFIELD$ in the default filename tab, it will be replaced by the shortcodes defined under Custom Date Format.

However when I run this on my files I get MM_DD_YYATEFIELD as my custom text which is nowhere near what I had defined.

like so.

Thanks cranioscopical - that worked for me.
Wondering what the $dt:%DATEFIELD$ is used for then.

Yes, I took a hurried look but didn't quite grasp it.

@mouser
Any clues, please?
