cannot copy/paste in word
« on: May 27, 2015, 03:54 PM »
hello!

I have the newest MS Word (not sure which version, it doesn't mention anywhere!)

I cannot copy/paste using CTRL keyboard shortcuts!

is this a known glitch?

thanks!

In Office 365 you have to create those hotkeys yourself:

Somehow the ctrl-C, ctrl-X, and ctrl-V shortcuts were unassigned in Word. I went to file>options>Customize Ribbon, then clicked on the customize button in the lower left where it says "keyboard shortcuts". The category was Home Tab, and the commands were EditCopy, EditCut, and EditPaste. I entered CtrlC, CtrlX and CtrlV respectively.

SelectAll = Ctrl+A
Find = Ctrl+F
Undo = Ctrl+Z

This is news to me, that Office 365 do not have the standard shortcut keys defined. What we call this progress / new features ??

Thanks Curt, this will help save me time when I use this version.

Regards,

Anand

... Thanks Curt, ...

stop! I have never tested Office 365, I don't know anything about it,  :o
I was merely quoting someone. I should have said this more clearly.  :-[

I figured out the selectall and the find, but not the undo
I am not sure how is it mentioned under the Home shortcuts

This is Microsoft, so don't think undo is called undo; that would be much too obvious! Maybe it is called "Reverses the most recent action"?

Might be worth looking at why they dont work -
An add-on?
Did you do a search on this one?
You might find something here - or in one of the links offered from there

I don't use it...but maybe try CTRL-U (UNDO)
http://efficiency365...d-shortcuts-in-word/

Looks like there might also be a Quick Access Toolbar that has "Undo and Redo arrows by default"

That'll conflict.
Ctrl+U has always been Underline selected text. It goes with:
Ctrl+B = Bold selected text
Ctrl+I = Italicize selected text

These have been around forever, and still apply to 365...which does/should/did have all the standard Ctrl+ hot keys by default. Me thinks (regarding the OP), something got fiddled with..

what you mean something got fiddled with?

I just want something quite simple: I want CTRL+Z to undo last action in Word 365

isn't there a way I can do that?
