Goto http://web.whatsapp.com (preferably using Chrome, AFAIR) from your laptop and scan the QR code shown with the whatsapp app on your phone, they'll then be 'linked', just follow the instructions there.
Needs your phone to have a very recent version of whatsapp.

why I didn't figure it out? there isn't a visible link in the webpage
also, do I have to have the webpage https://web.whatsapp.com/ opened all the time? or it will work even if I dont have it opened?
