can you help me design or find ready off the internet, this design please

I want a cynilder, where across it multiple straight lines pass through it, then I want to rotate the bases of the cylinder in different directions, what will happen? the lines will become spirals

is that possible?

mmm, it could be helical forms, but google image search revealed nothing matching what I have in mind :(
