Figured I'd post this, just to remember who the real 'enemy' is. Oldie, some may have seen it, but so funny every time -- to those who get it. It really is like this (or worse in many cases).

G'Day all :)

Yes, I am still around :)

Because Jesse was so polite in the email, I've come back. It would be unfair not to recognize this community as a top community and the contribution it has made.

I've been mostly developing with Qt lately but I still have my C++ Builder 2010 installed along with some MS tools. That thing (C++ Builder) is never going away from my PC and it is good to have skills across multiple platforms.

My latest product is Advanced Network Configurator (developed with Qt) - Offficial Website + Description and can also be downloaded from here and here.

P.S. I can certainly appreciate some user reviews.

Hey Mouser, et. al.

It's been a long time.  I didn't go away mad, sad or on purpose even.  Just life and interests kinda swayed my online activities. :)

I'm doing Hadoop/Storm kinda stuffs @ Cisco for the last year.  Working hard on getting managed service product out the door.  I'll go look around for a bit now.

10 Years!  Woot!  Congratulations Mouser and DC Community.

SkyIDE, great to hear from you and great to hear you are using Qt -- it's on my list to experiment with soon.

Rover, it's wonderful to see you again.  This thread is bringing me huge smiles.

No one should feel bad if their life took them away from DC.. It's wonderful to see some of the directions you folks have gone.

Good thing you posted that 'not really' in small font on the next page ;).

Life sucks for almost everyone right now. The reasons are complex.

For some, they suck more than others, but in those cases, you just have to make due with whatever unfair or unjustice was bestowed upon you. Can't wallow in it. Easier said than done, I know. Believe me.

Hi, gang! Mouser, a hearty congratulations on the decadal anniversary, and it's great to hear from you. I've enjoyed this site and even tried to keep up with the newsletter & its links, but I've also had some unexpected bumps in the road taking a lot of my attention in recent years. Rather than get too overwhelmed to function I've kind of scaled back my online activities among other things.

That's gradually changing for the better, and since I'm about to graduate from school I may actually have more of that elusive thing called "free time" again! It sure is good that DC is still alive and kicking, because it's a great resource and a really nice community. :D

BTW, my long-time avatar is kind of ironic given the recent passing of Leonard Nimoy - but all the more fitting as a way to honor the guy.

Hi Cavalcader.. Another avatar that brings back memories.  And congratulations on your school! If scaling back your online activities helps your real world life, stick with it!

You know, there is something to be said for simply surviving, as an adult/site/business, for 10 years in this world.

Especially for someone who has put themselves 'out there', as mouser has.

Believe me when I say that it comes with more drawbacks than rewards, and takes true courage.

Ha, let's not turn my lack of ambition and failure to plan for the future into "courage"!

More importantly, let's leave this thread as the welcome back lost members thread -- and I will start a new thread for people to say good things about me  ;D ;D ;D

Oh, no, that was truly meant as courage. Agreed on leaving it as-is though. I am no farther along in socioeconomic status than you, probably you farther than me. FWIW.

Hi mouser and forum members.  Thanks for your email Jesse.  I'm still here.  I read occasionally.  I'll have a scan through and see if I can make a contribution somewhere.

Cheers, Jeff

Hi Jeff!!
It's funny how bad I am with names but the avatars I remember instantly and they make me smile.

Well I think I've already spent my good will, accidentally.

Still, I wish nothing but the best for mouser and his friends. I hope you guys succeed and harbor no grudges against my dumb ass for having to say something about the lack of https by default on logins, which I guess doesn't matter much since client-side hashing is apparently done by SMF javascript.

imtrobin, nice to see you.  You're involved in the making of the game? or the making of the trailer?

oh shit, 10 years?
where did all those go?
i sill remember the pre-donation coder mouser from #mircryption, that slightly paranoid privacy fetishist who wouldn't trust anyone.

speaking of trust, that's what i'm working on right now as my day job.
cannot go into the details since it's not public yet, but once it is, i'm certain you'll hear of it ;)

exec summary: doing well, eating food, coding stuff.

Happy 10th anniversary ! FARR was one of my first and greatest experiences with application launchers, it certainly has made my daily interactions with computers much more enjoyable :-) I just had to drop by and say hi after receiving the e-mail you sent. Thank you for creating FARR and all the best Jesse!

Dear jesse and the rest of the DonationCoder family,

First off thanks so much for the email and reminder, 2009 was my last post. It is a real pleasure to say HI! again. I was never a real programmer (I'm a neuroscientist who makes do with Matlab), but I really do enjoy thoughtful conversations and interesting discussions, and DC was just brilliant for this (and I imagine still is!!!!). Jesse, I think you did the most amazing thing building this community, and you should be really really really proud of that.

FARR was my first love on this site, then I became interested in ways to improve productivity. My fellow DCers were always great to discuss/argue/share/laugh with. I moved to OS X and stayed around a bit longer as I wanted to share some of the differences and changes with this community. I still work for a living trying to understand how brains work, still living for work in the metropolis Airstrip One (aka London) and living a full life with a new Son.

I was always so amazed with how much Jesse cared about his software and how respectful he was of others. I know one can never "know" someone over this big crazy electronic web, but Jesse is obviously someone I would trust. I would gladly go out for a good coffee / beer / whisky (delete as appropriate), if it wasn't for the geographical displacement.

I would normally be a bit grumpy getting reminder emails, but DC is a family and this is a pleasure.  :beerchug: :drinksmiley: :beerchug: to the next 10 years!!!!

Hello everyone!

I still love this site and apologize for not having been very active, I have mostly been a lurker here reading all the great posts and learning from them, discovering new software etc. I'm just glad to be reminded of this by mouser, and will try to contribute more.

Hello there!  8)

Yes, it has been a while... I liked the idea of you, mouser, to reach out to "the missing 122". I've been very busy with other stuff so I haven't been to the site... but I'm still using ScreenshotCaptor, even though I probably need to update it!

And hello tomos!  :)
