Some minor annoyances

(1/2) > >>

dluby:
Hi,

Each time I open the LBC preferences I get a message about recommending to do an occasional backup (sensible advice) but I would like to be able to disable this.

A second issue is if I make a change, close all the nodes, save and close preferences, then re-open the preferences, many of the nodes are expanded again.

A third issue is (but I can't reproduce at will), is sometimes when I click save, LBC will crash and I end up having to kill LBC from task-manager. The next time this happens I will capture the error message and post it.

[Edit] LBC crashed twice for me this morning and I have attached the message.

[Edit 2] LBC crashed again, I made some changes, click the save all button and then tried to close it and got a violation error - see second screenshot.

[Edit 3] Another crash but a different message and I have attached a screenshot.

I am using LBC on Windows 7 Enterprise SP 1.

First world issues, eh?

this shouldn't happen.  are you sure it's not advising you to rename your launch bar from the default name? Otherwise I wonder if the problem isn't that it's not saving settings on exit.  Try exiting manually and see if the problem goes away once it can save its settings.

Do you have latest version and are you still experiencing regular crashes? Can I send you a debug version so we can try to identify the problem?

Hi Mouser,

I got another crash this morning BUT it may be due to the fact the one of the MCF files it was trying to load was accidentally deleted. I have tried to reproduce this error (with the mcf file still missing) but no success. I attached a screenshot anyway.

Typically it's not asking me to backup today so I can't reproduce it at will!

I am running v1.144.02 but I wouldn't object to a debug version to see if we can identify the source of the problem(s).

Thanks

Hey Mouser, I am now getting this error each time I go to save but the file isn't set to read-only, any ideas?  My PC must have gremlins!

Thanks

mouser:
If I had to guess, I'd guess that Windows is blocking the ability to write to that G:\ root directory -- and that I need to change that LBC message to say that the file could not be written, and may be read only or otherwise prevented from writing (disk full, protected location, etc.).

Do a Save As and put it someplace you have permission to save.

Let me know if that fixes it.
