Personally I like PDFCreator, no nags or similar annoyances. Also that reminds me I should upgrade to latest version :) .

I use Primo a lot and it's great. Better for less experienced users than PDFCreator (if it's the app I'm thinking of). If I recall correctly PDFCreator is more customizable but the simple controls and defaults in Primo seem to work great for my users.

And just to add to the selection list

Bullzip PDF Printer

http://www.bullzip.com/products/pdf/info.php

I used Primo for a while but Bullzip won me over with its 1 step file process.

I dont think there is a simpler one out there. no interface. no ads.

Primo , verygood , 7/10
Bullzip , excellent , 9/10

Though a bit clunky, it has some nice features.

Cool, I'll have to check out Bullzip. In fact, maybe I'll add it to that long-overdue freeware PDF review I'm working on. :D

another on freeware world team today:

http://www.sybrex.co...ui/ezeepdf/index.php

From that site:
"A note about the free version: The free versions of the Sybrex Systems products are fully functional but will display http://www.sybrex.com each time they are used. If you would prefer not to see our oficial site, you may upgrade."

Here is what I have found in my search over time.

http://www.primopdf.com/
This already being discussed here.

PDFCreator
http://sourceforge.n...projects/pdfcreator/
So far my choice.

Bullzip PDF Printer
http://www.bullzip.c...roducts/pdf/info.php
Untested but looks promising.

http://www.pdf995.com/
From the site:
"Costs and Upgrades
PDF995, PdfEdit995 and Signature995 are all FREE. However, for $9.95 each you may purchase keys to remove the sponsor page which displays each time you run each of these programs. For $19.95 you may purchase a suite key which works for all three of our products. Purchasing also entitles you to email support by software engineers (12-hour response time)."

CutePDF - Create PDF for free, Free PDF Utilities, Save PDF Forms ...
This one is free, but to do anything useful, you have to install their companion software which installs spyware.

Foxit Reader 2.0, reader only.
http://www.foxitsoft...com/pdf/rd_intro.php

PDF4Free
http://www.pdfpdf.com/pdf4free.html
From the site:
"PDF documents created by PDF4Free will be tagged, i.e. PDF    Creator - PDF4Free v2.0  will be tagged onto all the created PDF documents. The sole purpose of the tag is to spread the free PDF creator software to more and more people."

http://www.yafpc.net/
Java based.
Untested, but since it is Java test, I expect it to be slow.

Tomahawk+
Crippled version from their flagship product, Tomahawk Gold.
Completely portable now and usable on a USB Flash Drive.
http://www.nativewin...ftware/tpdfplus.html
They could use some help on re-designing their web site which looks like an AOLer's home page.  :)

Reader only.

PDFproducer -  a nice little software which converts plain text into PDF document

WinPDF - 100% Free PDF
http://www.pdfdesk.com/winpdf.html

Honorable mention:
http://www.pdf2exe.com/
Convert PDF to EXE.

http://www.pdf2exe.com/reader.html
From the site:
"The world's smallest PDF viewer/reader  to view, print, and convert PDF files to TXT, BMP, JPG, GIF, PNG, WMF, EMF, EPS. It is only 655KB to download and doesn't need lengthy installation, just download, unzip, and run."

With a standalone version that doesn't need installer, this is very nice to have on your USB Flash Drive.

Hope these links help someone.  :)

I use PDFCreator. The program is quick and converts documents quickly.
I don't know why, but PrimoPDF would not run on my computer (why I use PDFCreator)

are you sure? what is this companion software that you mention? because i have been using CutePDF for some time and it hasn't displayed any tell-tale signs of spyware activity. for the record, i also have PDFCreator and doPDF (Softland) installed..
