Is there a way to modify the behavior, either in office, or system wide, of the "smart select" stuff which is anything but?

i double click on a word in frontpage, and it selects the word plus one extra space to the right.. yeah, that makes sense.. shoot me.

similarly annoying happens when selecting words manually, with the thing insisting on selecting extra punctuation, etc.

surely others know this insane behavior i'm talking about.. any fix?

In Word go to Tools > Options and hit the Edit Tab. Half way down there is a Cut and Paste section with a setting button - you can turn of smart behaviour. This may or may not be what you want. I have a feeling it is to do with automatic style adjustment.

I am using Office XP - I haven't check but I'd guess there are similar options in other apps.

There is also a link on the main edit tab related to selecting whole words including spaces.

I've had a look in frontpage and can't see any options in there ... bummer
