something to save file/program/icon associations

<< < (7/7)

pfeerick:
Sorry to reopen this topic, but a program called Association Manager (by Alexander Peckover), which no longer has a website and hasn't been updated since 2000, seems to fit the bill. You can save your current associations, manage them, and create "association group files". ie. you can have one association set for audio/video playback and another for editing.

One download site: http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Utilities/Misc__Utilities/Association_Manager.html

Nighted:
QuickAssociation maybe?

PlayPhil:
I like and use RegShot but also Doug Knox has an excellent set of routines to re-associate the defaults.

That said, the easiest way, particularly if you are going to uninstall the app, is to roll back with an Image Backup, using Acronis or Image for DOS/Windows

PlayPhil:
Tried your link Skrommel, did not work, but this page has the file  http://www.moonsoftware.com/files/Legacy

Thx for the tip...

pfeerick - The download link doesn't work from that site... here is one that does Associate v1.3a

BUT, from the readme...

I do not claim that this will work at all on Windows NT - In fact, please do not use it on Windows NT.-the readme

Since XP is based upon NT, I am hesitant to use this. I did try it on one file type, and when I tried to apply the changes, the program crashed / simply vanished.
