thank, kimmchii, i'll try out winpatrol also.

associatethis looks the most powerful app but i'm almost sure i've tried both of these programs a few years ago - i obviously didn't feel the need for them back then.

 :) I've been using Registry Key Backup to save my settings.

Just tell it what keys you want backed up, give them a name, add Regsitry Key Backup to your startup folder and add -AUTOBACKUP to the command line, and you'll never lose those settings again!



The only problem is that it isn't listed on www.moonsoftware.com any more, but you can still download it using http://www.moonsoftware.com/files/Registry_Key_Backup_123.zip.
