Link: ZDNET UK - UK firm to unveil wall-socket PC

A little device based on Windows CE, with IE and a RDP client builtin to connect to servers.
Run on about 5W of power.

Bye!

I'm still wondering if this idea is crazy, or just pure genious!  ;D ;D
Having a bunch of these aruond the home could be trully revolutionary! With some sort of integration, we could wake up in the morning, and, while still in bed, get out toasters to start heating the bread for the breakfast! :D

That has got to be the coolest thing I've ever seen. Where can I get one!

If you want the full details see http://www.jadeinteg...ation.com/jackpc.php and for £200 or so it is really cheap.

What do you do about storage though? Are you limited to USB2 hard disc drives lying around the carpet ? Or do you dig a hole in the wall to hide your hard discs ;)

Edit ...
Just read the blurb and really it is only for use as a network client running Windows CE in a small memory foot print ... wouldn't it be nice if this could be expanded a little to proper desktop proportions ?

Maybe but... The fact to use it as a simple client, is part of what make it great, IMHO.
No more worries about software update, harddisk failure, users tampering with the installed software, etc. Just initiate an RDP session to the server, login, and you are ready to work.

Bye!

It sounds perfect.

Could also be useful for running linux - keep httpd, subversion, misc other services on it, and farm out storage to a SAN :)
