Go into Illustrator Help and search for Transform Pattern.

Sorry I don't know Illustrator well enough to know if it makes sense (it came in Creative Suite CS2 but I don't use Illustrator very much).

that's the bit i can't get to work, Carol. if i press '~' (or even the '¬' where i think adobe expects the '~' to be) it doesn't perform the transform.

Are you holding down shift too? In PhotoShop ~ is used but you have to use shift too (even though the shortcut description doesn't say so).

yeah, tried shift and alt and alt gr and probably other things too. i couldn't find any solution looking on illustrator forums either - i'm probably just not looking hard enough.

i'm sure it will be a simple solution - i'm probably just doing something daft.

Call Adobe - they give free tech support in the UK.

Log it as a fault though - after all the key doesn't seem to do what it is supposed to on a UK keyboard !!

You can get forum help on USENET from news://www.adobeforums.com/adobe.illustrator.windows but you need to register to be able to post. You can also read the forum and register for it here http://www.adobeforu...i-bin/webx/.ee6b328/

The other good forum for illustrator is alt.graphic.illustrator which is propogated on most USENET servers.

There are also loads of UK web based forums for illustrator - here is a quick Google hit http://www.google.co...0Adobe%20Illustrator
