Is it possible to speed dial group of tabs in Firefox?
« on: April 04, 2014, 12:21 AM »
Hi,

In Opera, I assign the local address of a saved session (open tabs) to its speed dial slot and I am able to open all tabs as stored in the session by a single click on the speed dial entry.

In Firefox ver 28.0, I have installed the "Speed dial 0.9.6.16" extension, I am aware this add-ons allows user to assign multiple URLs (splited by '|') to a single slot, but I find that extremely troublesome, esapecially when it involves lot of tabs.

So, is it possible to bind a saved session (of opened tabs) to a single speed dial entry in Firefox?

I am also aware that the "Tab Mix Plus" extension has its own session manager, anyone know how and where it stores session of tabs?

Create a subfolder in your Favorites, put the desired url's in there, then right-click the folder choosing "Open All in tabs"

BrowserBunch has a similar purpose.  It comes with a Tray Hotkey called Browser Bunch Session Save.  It's just macro driven.  So it's not smooth.  But the advantage is that BrowserBunch works with most non-IE browsers that accept multiple urls on the command line.

As alternative to Session Save or typing you can drag the current url from the addressbar to an editor such as EditPad Lite that will catch the drop in a text file.

It takes a bit of setup to load your browser buttons.  But once set up it's similar to using BrowserChooser except that it reads a text file with a url per line and opens them all at once.

There's a Readme.txt in the zip with the gory details.

There's a screen shot at the top of this thread:

I think I will put up with the Speed Dial for now, hopefully it will be improved in the future.

Doesn't Firefox already have Tab groups as a built in feature?

Tabulous Firefox Extension

Click the drop down arrow besides the square and then save all tabs.
