Mambo CMS Drama

(1/1)

mouser:

iro International is continuing to lose developers in its attempt to maintain control of its "open-source" Mambo CMS (content management system). Now, Mambo's core development team leader Martin Brampton has called it quits.
In his resignation letter, Brampton wrote, "In terms of fundamental principles, there is a considerable concern in my mind that the Board is not informing itself about the members wishes, and not making decisions that fully take account of their interests."

Cpilot:
Unfortunately this is "par for the course" for open-source initiatives. The sad truth is that the web is littered with unfinished and unrealized open source projects that at first glance were good ideas.
Lots of people talk about the evil of M$ and commercial software and make hallow threats about switching to linux and such.
But in the end commerce is what will drive the web and innovation.
Can't pay the rent, get a date and/or feed the kids on good intentions. :wallbash:

Most (all) of the Mambo headdeveloper are now developing on their own "true open source" Mambo fork - Joomla - without Miro in the background... So Mambo is dead - long life Joomla ;)
