@Stoic Joker: On my 64-bit Windows 7 IE 11, YouTube videos are normal. On the 32-bit system, IE 11 doesn't show YouTube videos here. Is this a Flash thing, a Windows thing, or an IE 11 thing?

Unknown, I just checked IE11 on one of my 32-bit Win10 VMs. The first time I checked Add-ons it wasn't there, so  I went to YouTube.com to see what would happen...and IE froze on me (I guess the "transparent" install is a bit clumsy..). Second try the page loaded and the video played ... And the MS/Shockwave Flash Player Object now appeared in the Currently loaded add-ons list.

In retrospect...perhaps the 'Currently loaded' bit was/is key..

No luck here (Win7 IE11 32-bit in a VM) -- somewhere under maker.tv I see "Please install Flash to continue".

I don't know whether to be happy or not...

Re: Epson and ink
I kept going back to my old reliable dot matrix printer after trying several ink hogs. Our latest was a pair of Epson Stylus NX415s. Now one is idle and my wife uses the other. I use one of two old Panasonic KX-P1150 printers bought second-hand at a very low price. I got ten replacement ink ribbons when they were being discontinued for $1.88 each and I'm working my way about a quarter the way through two boxes of paper. At current consumption rates I might run out by about 2035 but I doubt if there will be any OS to run it on then. That is one bandwagon I'm not getting back on. Ha.

If I ever get the money, I might want one of the small home laser printers because all I print is basically black and white text and the laser printer can do whatever it wants to faux represent an image on a page. Right now it's like I can't even get 200 pages out of my Brother printer even with a 500 page Black cartridge because it rips through the color ones like the first part of the Epson article.

some older HP printers allow continued use when the colour cartridges are removed. I know one personally...
It's possible the printheads are on the ink cartridges on that model -
must check next time I'm visiting ;)

Laser printers are a lot cheaper than they used to be as well. I have a Canon MFC 4770n (mult-function with scanning and networking) that I'm quite happy with. I think it was less than $100 when I bought it...

Laser printers have their own caveats, namely that the toner cartridges can be quite spendy, and you have to worry about the photoreceptor drum as well. but just like inkjets, you can get remanufactured and replacement brands much cheaper.
Pro Tip: Do not buy laser printer cartridges from your local office supply unless you are in a REAL bind.  They can cost you MUCH more than ordering online.

Case in point:  I have a Brother HL-1440 that has served me well for about 8 years now.  It uses the "TN-460" High-yield toner cartridge that gets me about 6,000 pages, and the "DR-400" photoreceptor drum unit that is good for 20,000 pages (YMMV).  Last time I checked all the major office supply stores in my area (there are 4) had at least one toner in stock and only one store had a drum unit.  The toner unit was $103.00
 :o
Their online price these days is about $90 for toner, and almost $200 for the drum if you buy Brother brand stuff, but the R&R brands can be had for almost 20-30% lower.  Amazon and eBay have even lower prices, with OEM Brother stuff remaining about the same, but R&R brands down to $10 for toner and $25 for drums.

I would definitely recommend laser printers if you do mostly black and white printing, but do your research and choose your poison...
