Now I are confuzzled. Regarding a download link for Screenshot Captor v4.27.4 .ZIP (Portable version), I give in.
Can't seem to find it on Page 1 or anywhere else.

@IainB

Just use the normal direct download links:
Archive
Installer

I suppose that mouser simply forgot to update the version information on Screenshot Captor page, which still shows version 4.27.3.

Yeah what happened was someone found a bug in the new version very soon after I had posted the update.  It wasn't a show stopper but was something that I wanted to fix quickly. I was hesitant to post a new update version that would make people have to re-download a new version right after they just downloaded the last one.  I have updated the web page but not the update checker.

Selection works fine for me (on 1920 x 1080 screens with no scaling).

Try the new region selection in the latest beta (4.28) -- hopefully it's even smoother.

Just testing out v4.28.0 (downloaded recently).

+1 - I like the region selection capabilities -- I've never really used this option before, but the keys are handy, and it is very smooth!

Bug - Unable to remove "Auto-Adjust (Shrink) region" from toolbar (option is there, but isn't respected).

Thanks for the capabilities!

You are right, I will fix.  Good catch.

Minor update posted with better ability to easily resize preserving aspect ratio in region select mode -- very useful when used with your list of MyFavorite region sizes:
  • Trigger a region capture
  • Hit 1-9 key to select your preset region size
  • Now just move the mouse to move the region, or hold alt and move mouse to resize preserving aspect ratio.

Hello all. On Screen Shot Captor, how can I completely delete an object once it is saved?  I find that I can edit an object but cannot delete it so I need to use a copy of the original map and start over.  Thank   you for your help.

In Screenshot Captor, you can edit/move/delete objects after you have saved the file, the trick is that in order to select an object you have to go into Object Editing Mode.  You can do that by simply double-clicking the item to enter object editing mode and select the object, then hit Delete key to delete it.

Really like the new changes. Any chance of these Toolbar change being done ? Requested something along these lines before.

If would be really nice if we could select and add "any" of menu options from Edit, SpecialFX1, SpecialFX2, Objects or Tools menus to the Toolbar.

I do realise that could be really hard so I would be happy if we could just add in this "order of priority"

 Pixelate Inside selected region
Splice out strip by selection -Deluxe effects
 Splice out strip by selection

Hi Mouser,

It's been awhile since I've posted here. Mostly because the development and release cycle for SSC seemed to slow down there for awhile. I'm glad to see it has picked up recently. I use SSC almost daily, and have been using it for several years now. I am currently using the v4.27.4 release as my daily driver and testing the v4.28.2 beta release. I really like the updates you are making to the region capture option. If you recall, I was the one who suggested way back adding the ability to "nudge" the anchor points using the arrow keys for finer tuning the capture.

I noticed that in the beta version, you made some changes to the cross hair selection lines to make them more visible. For me, I would prefer the lines to be solid and not dashed. The dashed lines still blend in too much with the background than a solid line would. Have you considered or has anyone suggested changing the cross hair lines to solid?

v4.29.0 - Apr 2, 2018
  • [Improvement] Region select mode is now much more responsive
  • [Improvement] Region select mode now shows region size much more clearly
  • [Improvement] Region select mode crosshairs are now easier to see on a variety of backgrounds.
  • [Improvement] When copying image (or region) to clipboard that has alpha transparency, the alpha transparency is preserved.
  • [New Feature] New menu item in Objects menu to save current image or region into the MyClipart folder for reuse as a clipart object.
  • [New Feature] New right-click context menu in clipart panel to browse current clipart directory with file explorer (useful for managing/renaming MyClipart files).
  • [Improvement] Fixed-size region captures now use same capture mode as region-select mode, just starting out in selection-move mode; so now all of the region select mode features and hotkeys are available (use '1'-'9' to choose from preset sizes, use 'r' key to toggle region mode, etc.)
  • [New Feature] Hold alt key while dragging second corner of region in region capture mode to preserve aspect ratio.
  • [BugFix] It's possible that jpg "Date Created", normally left blank by SC, could be set to values photo loaded by SC.
  • [Improvement] The common default screenshot directory folder is now added near top of GoTo/MoveTo directory lists at startup.

Thanks for the latest update :)

I would like to give a small suggestion, the "copy" button icon is very similar with common "paste" button icon found in microsoft application which confuses when people try to copy/paste objects! Maybe it would be better to replace with the copy icon from windows/word.

See attached picture of the icon "Copy current screenshot to clipboard as bitmap"

[New Feature] New right-click context menu in clipart panel to browse current clipart directory with file explorer (useful for managing/renaming MyClipart files).

This is worth the update alone!  I have been meaning to come in here and request it, but viola(!) it happened automagically.

Problem though - I don't see it.  How exactly does this work?  I've right clicked on an image, and don't see anything letting me open the directory in File Explorer, and right clicking on the background of the clipart panel only gives me the option to "Create new folder here."  What am I missing?

I think you're confusing the thumbnail panel with the "clipart panel".

The thumbnail panel, which is (almost) always on screen and shows the content of your current screenshot directory, has no such right-click "browse here" entry, but only because there has always been an easy way to browse your current screenshot directory, from the main menu.  From the main menu choose "GoTo-> " and then the 2nd item down is "Explore at current screenshot directory".  Or to do it fast hit Alt+G and then E.

The new feature is for the Clipart Object functionality, which allows you to drop special clipart images on your screenshots and manipulate them as objects.
