The ones in the 70's were twice the size of that one and solid silver colored.

One of these days I'm going to sit down and learn a hellava lot more about WWII.

Every time I learn a tidbit I am SO incredibly impressed by what people did during that time.  There were so many incredible people doing so many incredible things it's really amazing.

I'll have to dig up details, but here's a tidbit:
In WWII, the USAF did some amazing things will pulling wounded soldiers from behind enemy lines.  They stocked gliders with female nurses and sneaked them onto the battle field.  Once the wounded were loaded on board, they'd hang a snag line up and snatch the glider off the ground.

Imagine sitting in a glider behind enemy lines waiting to snatched off the ground...  People volunteered to serve this way.

Learning about them gives me hope for the future. :)

When you're done with that take a look at the events surrounding the founding of the United States - or what really happened during the American Civil War, or...well...really any major historic event born out of calamity and/or necessity.

Humans can be quite amazing. And usually, much like Hobbits, when you least expect them to be.

That gives me hope not only for the future, but also for the present. :Thmbsup:
