With apologies to John, Paul, Ringo and that other bloke
« on: December 31, 2012, 12:05:01 PM »
Sung to the tune of "Yesterday" by that popular beat combo, the Beatles:

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away
But now my files are all in disarray
Oh, I wish I backed-up yesterday

Suddenly, I could really use an un-delete,
My folders all seem incomplete,
Oh, catastrophe came suddenly

Why they had to go I don't know, they're all astray
I clicked something wrong, now my bits are like puree...hey hey hey...

Yesterday, I downloaded a free game to play
Now my computer has Trojan/A
I've paid the price for my naivete

Why I stole the game, it's the same, same old cliche,
I wanted new software, but was too mean, to want to pay

Now today, I got a call from the CIA
they say they want to put me away,
'scuse me folks, I'm incommunique
Hmm mm mmm mmm mmmmmm

Sung to the tune of "Let It Be" by the Beatles:

When I find my code in tons of trouble,
Friends and colleagues come to me,
Speaking words of wisdom:
"Write in C."

As the deadline fast approaches,
And bugs are all that I can see,
Somewhere, someone whispers:
"Write in C."

Write in C, write in C,
Write in C, oh, write in C,
Lisp is dead and buried,
Write in C.

I used to write a lot of Fortran,
For science it worked flawlessly.
Try using it for graphics !
Write in C.

If you've just spent nearly thirty hours
Debugging some assembly,
Soon you will be glad to
Write in C.

Write in C, write in C,
Write in C, yeah, write in C.
Only wimps use Basic.
Write in C.

Good one, Tim!  ;D ;D ;D

I started one about the toils of using Linux, sung to the tune of "Fire and Rain" by James Taylor.
It started with the chorus:

Oh, I've seen trial and I've seen pain
I've seen Gentoo installs that I thought would never end
I've seen X drivers fail and TTY was my only friend
But at least I'll never see a Blue Screen again...

There should be more, but that's as far as I got.  Maybe I should work on that.

Thank you all. Composed during a boring flight segment on my way home on Sunday.

Anyone feel like compiling a DC song-book?

Poor unappreciated Ringo... but smart, Yoda is.
