Supreme Court: We'll decide if human genes can be patented
The Supreme Court will make the decision as to whether corporations have the right to patent genes they discover.

It needs to stop at some point.

What I want to know is whether I can be sued for having a gene they patent - litigation seems to be the order of the day.

And, if they do sue, and I loose, does that mean I'd have to have that gene removed?

If so, who pays for my surgery/funeral?!?  Presumably, that would be me, since I happened to possess the offending gene  :P.

Would prior use count - assuming I'm older than the corp. that patented my gene?

Just a few surface thoughts  :-\.

My retirement plan: once my kids get done with college and get real jobs, I can sue for patent infringement.

barney:
Definitely a seminal plan  :P.
