Paste As File has been updated to v2.1.0.0 I have changed the UI to allow easier editing of the file name without having to also type the extension. It now also supports pasting as RTF (rich text format) files. This will allow you to copy formatted text from applications such as Microsoft Word and paste as a RTF file and keep the text formatting intact. There are some applications that may not keep the formatting when pasting to a RTF file. You will just have to test your application to see. More info and download on my site: Paste As FileThere is also a write up on Instant Fundas about Paste As File! Another write up on FreewareGenius.com A video review on Revision3.com! http://revision3.com/tzdaily/paste-as-fileAnd many more...

Do you want to improve that further?
- Paste as TXT - Paste as HTML - With chose as which format to paste if there are more then one format in clipboard.
Also i want to use this app from command line instead as from context menu. I imagine to include such an tool as an button into an file manager. Therefor i would need three parameters: * /P Path to the folder to store the file, like 'C:\temp' or '%P' * /N Name of the file to created, like 'clip_%date%' * /F Format to paste as, like 'HTML' or 'ASK' to prompt the user with the dialog
E.g.:
PasteAs /P:%P /F:txt
where name is the default Clipboard_20120825
.

It can already to other text formats. Just change the extension. So if you copied HTML code, just choose Paste As File and change the extension to HTML, or any other plain text file format. I use it for TXT, PHP, HTML, CSS and DSC just to name a few.
I think I may be able to add command line support. I'll look into that.

I have gotten over 2000 Dls (and counting) and mentioned on over 6 sites. Thanks to everyone that downloaded and use it! :-) Oh, and stay tuned, I am updating to allow you to browse to a folder when pasting a file and I may try to add a way to "guess" what the file should be and suggest the best extension.

I was contacted by the editor of German c't magazine, and he want's to put a write up in there. If there is a way to get this set up soon that would be great so people have a place to download without crashing anything. Thanks a lot!

that's brilliant - c't is about the only good quality widely available german language computer mag - it's got a pretty large circulation. PS might be best to send mouser a pm or email

http://www.makeuseof.com/...unctions-2-tools-windows/Power Up Your Copy & Paste Functions With These 2 Tools
PasteAsFile is a neat little tool that will allow you to create instant clipboard files using Windows Explorer. Using Windows 7, you can simply right click on your desktop area or on a folder in a Windows Explorer window. You should see the PasteAsFile option in the context menu.

Chris, this was such a good idea that I copied it and added it as a feature of my Clipboard Help+Spell program (not yet in official release, but it's in the beta). I gave you credit in the help manual and I hope you'll see it as a sign of flattery and not be irritated; most people who want this function will probably be better off with your small utility -- I just thought it was something that my CHS users should have as a built-in-option!

Not a problem. I'm glad it can help out others and I know that it is an app that I use almost every day. It has had such a great response all over and to have a video review and a few awards. I am now trying to think of any improvements I can add. In the help file can you put a link to my site so users are able to check for updates and see my other software?
Also, I just released Copy Contents. It's like Paste As File but in reverse. :-)

I think I may be able to do that, but it would only be for plain text. Would not work for images or formatted text.

Ok. What I am going to do is create a tray app that will watch the clipboard and automatically append any text to a database. Then when a Paste As File is done (with a different button that will be added) all the text in the database will be used to create the file, then cleared after the file is created. I'll add some options/setting to the tray also for clearing old data and such. I'll try and have it finished before the new year.

I think what I am going to have to do is make a hotkey (Ctrl+Shift+C) to copy clips you want to combine. Watching the clipboard for new data is a little trickier and this way it will not save every clip, just the ones you want.

Chris, to save you the trouble of implementing this, perhaps my ClipTrap application will suit flamerz needs?
