Can anyone recommend a good DVD to AVI program?

For the raw ripping, I would recommend the free version of DVDFab Decrypter... fast, handles ARccOS, etc.

lanux128:
another good place to look for is: www.videohelp.com

What is this site about?
This site will help you to make your own VideoCDs, SVCDs, DVDs, DivX, XviD, HD etc that can be played on your standalone DVD Player from video sources like DVD, Video, TV, DV, Cam or downloaded movie clips like AVI, DivX, XviD, WMV, Flash, etc.-website

If the above method doesn't suit you, take a look at http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html which is getting immensely popular -nosh (March 24, 2007, 05:37 AM)

http://www.erightsoft.com/S6Kg1.html > scroll all down, is a better link, or you may never actually find the download. SUPER © may be The Best, but the web-designer is not, and the servers are the worst (33 KB/S).

MerleOne:
I would recommend the following opensource : DrDivx : it's a bit tricky to setup, used to be buggy, but much more configurable than AutoGK.

Sometimes, it also requires to install a (free) AC3 handler (AC3 = Dolby Digital).
