Speed up multi file copying

(1/1)

If you need to copy MANY files,
I never thought of this before, but now it seems so logical:

How to Really Speed up File Copying in Windows

>>use this trick: put all your files in a single archive (zip) file, and copy that<<

Works EXTREMELY well.

Also for any bulk file transfers in general, e.g. FTP. Each file has a certain amount of overhead.

HOWEVER... Most important thing... DO NOT USE COMPRESSION. Just archive the files with no compression as it will be MUCH faster.

Actually, that's not totally true.

Don't compress things like videos or images or music.

Do compress things like text files, html files, etc.
