Looking for a good file transfer app

(1/3) > >>

Vigk:
Hello, I need to send some big files to a friend. File hosts like rapidshare.. are so slooowww and require uploading. Is there any ip-based prog that make my pc a server he can connect to and get files ? something like a RAT but without other nasty functions.
 Thanks.

patteo:
Take a look at https://www.foldershare.com/

It's free and your PC acts like a server if I'm not mistaken. Not sure how fast it is.

It was a paid service up till recently until it was acquired by Microsoft.

patteo:
Here's a little more information about it from PCMag UK

Please note that the service is now free as of Nov 2005 (Microsoft acquired it)

A few years back, Nullsoft (makers of WinAmp) released an excellent P2P application for exchanging files among an explicitly defined group of trusted friends/peers -- and it worked amazingly well.  AOL forced them to kill it after only a couple of days . . .

Fortunately, anything worth trying to remove is usually picked up by the open source community -- Waste is no exception.

Vigk:
Foldershare is just what I need. I also found another : CC file transfer. Now I'll test their speed.
WASTE seems a good idea , I'll try it when I have a bigger group.
 Thanks.
