RegEdit addin for Internet Explorer

(1/1)

Carol Haynes:
Found this in the current LangaList newsletter and it looks really neat ... http://www.petri.co.il/open_in_regedit_in_ie.htm

Works really well - just highlight a registry key displayed in an Internet Explorer Window (or related windows - it works in IE tabs in Firefox and in Maxthon, so presumably any IE based browser), right click and choose Open In Regedit and it jumps straight in to that value. Great when you are troubleshooting something and a reg key is quoted.

The whole website www.petri.co.il is worth checking out.

Hmm... if the mechanism used to implement this gives script (jscrip, vbscript, whatever) access to the component, and through some loophole lets a malicious user specify arbitrary commands to regedit... eek. The download is also way too huge for what it does - large program are harder to audit than smaller programs.

But the idea is pretty good :)

brotherS:
Yeah, the idea is pretty good, but probably makes only sense for those few that are 'knee-deep in the registry' every few days.
