There has to be something i'm over looking.I know i can set hot keys to check all mail with the push of a button,
but i'm lazy and want this process automated. :D

Sure -- in the account properties, check out the . . . I think "transport" section, you can set an interval to check.

You should also check out the scheduler, you can have messages automatically send (so it remembers birthdays even if you don't), automatically backup periodically, etc.

you can also configure certain accounts to ignore the "check all hotkey" which can be useful as well.

Thanks for replies (i knew there was a way with all these freakin options,just a beast to sort out)
I got the setting i want with-

Account-properties-options
Then i mess around with periodical checking


 I say whoa! when it comes to that scheduler,i've never touched it before or seen it  :-[
You can get alot done there that's for sure,i'm not that popular yet.

I'm not popular, but it has saved me on many occasions when I forgot about my family's birthdays :D

TheBat! - phew, what a lot of options.  But basic things are still pretty easy to do.  Good piece of work.
