Wall off section of screen
« on: June 07, 2012, 06:52 AM »
I have friend whose laptop screen broke. Half of it is black, the other half works fine.
He can't use it, as half of each program he uses is hidden in the black section. Worse, items in the taskbar are out of reach.

On these forums, some ways back (three years or so), there was some software that allows one to "wall off" a section of the desktop, so that Windows will treat the desktop as being only until the "wall". This is different than programs such as GridMove which treat the desktop as the whole area but minimize the program.

I think it was created by a donationcoder member in order to ficilitate having Samurise always showing. I don't remember exactly, and can't find the thread through search.

Can anyone help - any software that allows me to tell windows that the screen is only the left half of the actual physical screen?

Thanks.

What about setting some bizarre screen settings? (Horozontal half or vertical half?) So just for example, find a program that faciliates this, then something like 480 X 1080 resolution or something?

That doesn't feel like the whole answer, but maybe it's a piece of the answer.

or

if using Win.7, the Winkey + left arrow will resize any window to the left side of the screen.
or use an app that resizes windows. Moveit or GridMove - both apps here on dc.

You can also drag the taskbar to the left side of the screen. (Right click and unlock if locked, then drag and release when showing correctly. You will have to make it wider/deeper to show apps properly, so autohide to maximise space.)
