Just one more reason - of several - to dislike my iPad: DonationCoder.com is difficult to read on it. Unlike any other forum I read, this one is tough to scroll. It seems like each individual post is in its own frame or something. When you put your finger on the page to scroll up or down, the text of the specific post you are touching moves slightly up or down - maybe 1/16" - but the page itself will not scroll. To get the page to scroll I must swipe the screen at the vertical scroll bar or in that thin area between the scroll bar and the posts.
Anyone else using an iPad? Can you confirm this behavior? (For me it occurs on the native Safari browser as well as Opera Mini and the Dolphin browser.)
Jim

The one drawback is it doesn't show images.. but it should be much faster that way. Might be nice to add a version that did show images but forced them all to show as thumbnails.

I haven't experienced any quirky behavior WRT scrolling on the 1st gen iPad I use. I've set Atomic as my default browser but tried it with Safari and got the same result - scrolling works like it should in both portrait & landscape modes. Sometimes the posts show up with the smileys all mixed up, the browser even pulls much larger smileys (which aren't even accessible via the 'more' link) from somewhere and puts them in random places. It's bizarre and occurs randomly.

I'm on an iPad 2 running 5.1.1, though the behavior has been like that at least since 5.0. No, I haven't tried the WAP browser; I usually allow the sites to determine whether to serve me their desktop or mobile versions rather than seek out either one myself. To be honest all the iPad browsers I have used have been served the regular desktop browser modes. Only the smart phones usually see the mobile pages of most sites.
DC is not unusable at all; it's just that the inability to scroll if your finger lands on the text of a thread is a bit weird and does take getting used to. I haven't gotten used to it. Doubt I will but then again I haven't gotten used to anything on the iPad. (Doubt I will there either!)

Gotta tell you - I'm getting the same behavior in Firefox on my computer. If I use the scroll wheel on my mouse within most posts nothing happens; I have to keep moving my mouse around to get it to scroll.
No one else is seeing this at all? Really?
Thanks!
Jim

I'vd experienced it too - but only since going up to # 15. (Other sites have also been problematic since upgrading.) EDIT/ link for the FF15 thread - this and following posts: http://www.donationcoder....32093.msg299647#msg299647

I was seeing this since Firefox 12. Also occurs in all browsers on the iPad.
Thanks!
Jim
PS - Don’t forget, I am talking about DonationCoder.com only. I generally don’t see this elsewhere.

Not all browsers. I don't see it on my iPad 3 using Chrome, iCabMobile, or Safari.

I can't remember which browser/OS combo it was, but I did see similar behavior awhile back. I remember having to make sure my mouse wasn't over the post box area in order to scroll. I had to keep my mouse in the page margins, otherwise, as soon as it hit a post box, it would stop scrolling, or scroll a bit in the opposite direction....and it only happened on this site and a few others.
