"For past year devoted Masha has been waiting in a hospital for the beloved owner who will never return...
A little dog that waits in vain at a Siberian hospital for the owner who has already died has been dubbed Russia’s own Hachiko. Heartbroken Masha has been turning up looking for her beloved master every day since he passed away at the facility in Novosibirsk last year."

"When a homeless man in Brazil had an epileptic seizure, his dog Spike wasn't about to let him out of his sight. When the ambulance carrying the man headed to the emergency room, Spike chased after it. Eventually, the paramedics stopped to let Spike aboard. The loyal canine was also allowed to accompany his friend inside the emergency room as he recovered."

It appears Sebastian views his human family as a pride... just like wild lions do.   :)

+1! My sister had a little mixed breed (Pookie) who was like that. She'd never eat alone. Dinner in the same room with the rest of the family also eating was her rule. And if she went and got herself a cookie (she was one of those rare dogs that could self-regulate their treat intake) she always brought two back and dropped one by whoever else was in the room. (Although being a dog, she'd almost always eat the second one a short while after she finished the first. But only if the person said "You eat it." first.

Fear the Hippo!

A hippo in Botswana, apparently quite annoyed by the paparazzi, made its feelings well known when it thundered after a boatload of tourists. The result, captured in the video below, is kinda like Jaws meets Moby Dick meets the "Must go faster!!" scene in Jurassic Park.

Discovery News reports:

Members of a tour group on Botswana's Chobe River got an unexpected scare when their boat nearly ran afoul of the business end of a hippo in hot pursuit.

Luckily for the Internet, David Jackson and his son Craig had an iPhone at the ready and caught the chase on video. (See the footage below, courtesy of YouTube/Craig Clive Jackson and Pangolin Photo Safaris.)

"The hippo was closer to the boat than what it appears on the video," the elder Jackson wrote on YouTube. "It is amazing how fast a hippo can move in water."

You can see it in real time here. It's happening faster than the above video might lead you to expect.

To my knowledge, hippo's kill much more Africans than lion(ess)'s do. Temper, tons and very(!) territorial. Don't let their looks fool you.

The girl who gets gifts from crows:

Wild crows fly up and drop small objects in front of her. They're gifts. For the past 4 years, she's fed them scraps for fun. Now they're expressing their loyalty.

this is a sad story. but it has a happy ending. it's about a mother dairy cow who kept hiding her calf.

http://www.sun-gazin...f-reason-tore-heart/

unfortunately most calfs born to dairy cows have a life expectancy only numbered in weeks. they're separated from their mothers a day after birth and spend most of their remaining days tied to a post or kept in a tiny pen being fattened up so they can be slaughtered for veal. most are only kept alive for 16-20 weeks. and some are slaughtered when a few days old to produce a low-grade veal that's often used in tv dinners.

dairy cows are considered "spent" after less than 5 years on average. these are then "retired" [i.e. slaughtered]. usually for the cheap grade of hamburger meat used by fast food chains.

it's sickening!

a cow's life expectancy is about 20 years under normal circumstances

Duck thinks it is a dog.

"So I have a pet duck who is special needs. I saved Spuck from being culled as a duckling and he imprinted on me, but I go to college on the other side of the country. This was my duck’s reaction after seeing me for the first time in 4 months."
