Anybody In Favour of the blocking of PirateBay, Please Read

Firstly, let me just say, that it is because of you that I will no longer be supporting ANY developer (Except DonationWare here on DonationCoder).

The reason I paid for software, games, music, videos, and anything else digital for that matter, was because I had the ability to be able to download the entire version of it, for free, with no obligation, first.

Now that isn't possible (Although it is, and I can actually still access PirateBay via VPS) I have no means of knowing if something is worth my money.

Who, realistically, wants to spend £50 on a game, which, could end up being absolute shit?  -  Not like you can trade in games you buy from Steam, or any other digital store tbh...so its dead money, and, in this economy, one cannot simply waste that amount of money.

A random but good example of this, is a recent games purchase I made.  I had downloaded a random game called "Farming Simulator 2011" just for the sheer hell of it, however, the pirated version of this only allowed me to play offline...long story short, is, I wanted to play this online, so...I purchased the game AND a second copy to gift to a friend...Bearing in mind, there is no chance in hell I would have even considered buying a SINGLE copy of this game, let-alone TWO copies before I found it to be quite good for a boredom cure.

So, to sum up this short post...Take away my piracy, I no longer buy your stuff :)

**edit**

For those unfamiliar, PirateBay is now blocked in the UK at an ISP level.

"If you wanted to try out our games, play the Demos we offer. That is our limited versions which we offer to establish if you like the basic concepts enough to buy the game. If we choose not to offer a demo, that is because we have made the business decision not to. You say that you like to download the entire version of a game to 'decide if you want to buy it'. However, that is a pure violation of copyright law. Downloading unauthorized copies of copyrighted material is illegal, and your subsequent purchase decisions are irrelevant. So therefore we are happy that you no longer download our copyrighted materials from the Pirate Bay, and removing you from the download stream justifies our actions. "

Imagine how much money I am going to be saving each year due to this!  ;D - Last year alone I spent around £2000 on software I had downloaded torrents of and decided the developers had done a good enough job to warrant my spending.

"Anything you say on DC can and will be used against you in your copyright trial!"
