hello!

I have a pc at work, a smartphone, a pc at home, a notebook, a tablet, etc

I have various web browsers in each

is there a solution where I can unify and automatically update all my bookmarks, history, typed data, passwords, opened tabs sessions in all web browsers ?

thanks!

^ +1 for xmarks.  They've gone freemium to an extent, i.e. you have to pay to get the added service of the mobile syncing.  But it works, and I've had no complaints about it.

Wot @wraith808 said.
I had used it for a couple of years.
I thought it was brilliant in concept. The only problem I had with it was in practice, in that it kept fully duplicating and partially duplicating my bookmarks and sub-folders, distributed across my PCs, which gave me a huge mess to clear up. At which point I disabled it.
I haven't revisited it for a while. I might do so now. It's probably all been fixed.

Is there a program like this that allows SELECTIVE sync to each PC? Basically, I have certain....risque....bookmarks that should not be on some PCs. This is the sole reason I do not use chrome sync.

Any ideas?

I believe you can do that with xmarks and profiles for sync with certain machines.  I'm not sure though, as I've never explored it.

Yes, those were the features that I was using in 2010. It was brilliant, but a bit tricky to set up and maintain. It would probably be even better now. I think my file/folder duplication problem (described above) was probably because I tried to be too clever with the system in attempting to get it to do the sort of thing that @Josh is wanting to do also. I don't know how many users had the same sort of problem as I had. (Haven't googled it or checked the Xmarks forum for a long time.)

So, anyone have any recommendations for a solution to this? I would love to see this feature!

Yes! Try Xmarks out.
If you do, please let us know how you get along.

I've tried XMarks and, like others have said, the profiles option is painful to use.

Well, painful might be all you have right now.  I don't think any other service like this has even that much.

Manually store your favorites in Dropbox and use Dropbox's selective sync!

How's that for painful?
