Steven Avery:
HI,

Any WordPress experts ? Let's say we planned right now to start a great new blog.

How many of these are placing you in a place that you have to continue later at $ or suffer some inconvenience (in other words, a freebie that has to be evaluated very carefully), or related to stuff that might not really apply.

How many of these are real absolute value ?
And how many are sort of throw-ins ?

Clearly we would be unlikely to pay $600 if it wasn't the bundle, but is there real $200 value ?

Your comments ?

Steven

rgdot:
In my opinion the site has to be business, client sign up type oriented site for the above bundle. Things like Mad Mimi, Hello Bar, Sendible are not wholly justifiable for "less ambitious" kind of sites.
Themes can be good but again if you use them, Site5 hosting the same.

40hz:
+1 with rgdot. If the themes look good, and you plan on using one, $59 is a reasonable price to pay for a professionally developed and commercially licensed theme. The rest of the stuff is time limited and clearly offered as an encouragement to continue as a paying customer after the initial use period expires.

In the end it depends on your goals for your WP site. If you have no e-commerce plans or large ambitions, the basic convenience, performance and security plug-ins (HyperCache, Askismet, WP-Page-Navi, etc) plus a crackerjack theme are all you really need and probably want. Unless you see something that would make editing or administrative tasks easier for you.

Innuendo:
I think the real take-away from this bundled deal is that a lot of the value is attached to free multi-month subscriptions to certain products. One could look at that as saving money now so one can spend more money later.

It's a great way for a company to hook new users on the subscription model.
