Alias action
« on: February 27, 2012, 09:40 AM »
Hi,

I am trying to use the +alias feature of FARR to pipe a folder to foobar2000 (with standard FARR browsing mechanism to select the folder).

What I tried:

- create an alias called +play
- fill the results box with C\Program...\foobar2000.exe "$$1"
- leave the regular expression pattern and filter boxes empty

This does not work, the expression is not recognized by FARR and when selected the folder is just opened in the explorer...

I am using FARR 2.104.02 on Windows 7 x64. Everything seems to work fine except this feature... I did not find any pre defined alias using the + feature, could somebody helps me out with a working example or some advice?

that looks right -- but note that your alias should be named play not +play.

you add the + only in the search box to activate it.

Hi,

Thanks for pointing this out - I fixed this part in the meantime :). The alias is now working for simple files but it fails for folder - always opening them in the explorer instead of redirecting them as argument to the application (I tried with enter, a numeric pad number and alt + numeric pad number, same effect). Is there anything special to set to support folder argument (the target application is supporting them, I checked this out)?

It may be a bug -- FARR may be handling folders incorrectly in this case. I will look into it.

Great! Let me know if you find a workaround! FARR is great, it must be the most user configurable launcher out there, long live it!
