Some demon hands would be good.  Or zombie hands.
I guess robot hands would probably be more "computerish" though...

Can Mouser, or somebody please try this updated version, "handsholding2?"

It's the same image, I just tried to fix the mask in the top-left, and tried to make the shadow a little better...

The dimensions and color-depth (between handsolding2.png and handsholding2.png.mask) are the same, so I think it should work...
The compression ratio appears to be different though.  Not sure if that matters.

If I try to use it, I get the "frame" part working, but the mask part does not, and SSC pops up "Access violation at address 00723F54 in module 'ScreenshotCaptor.exe'. Read of address 00000000."

Do other people get this effect?
==========
EDIT:   Mouser's installation instructions from his above download are:
"Copy both of these files to your ScreenshotCaptor\Frames directory, then use the Frame tool to apply it.
(Hit rescan directories from Frame Tool panel if you copy files while SC is running)."

I thought i posted a reply to this but i guess not.
Can you try downloading the new beta, and change your mask filename to
handsholding2.png.mask.png

in other words exactly the same name as the frame file but with .mask.png at end.

Okay I should probably know this already....
Is there an "official beta download" location?

I'm guessing that it's not this one
https://www.donation...hotcaptor/index.html

Is in embedded someplace in the Latest Version Info Thread?

oops i handed thought of that problem.. will fix.  but still, what if you trigger the handsholding2 FRAME -- does it then apply the mask properly?

FWIW, it does for me.
Both the frame and the mask appear in my frames panel. If I click the frame it applies the mask.

(I also have a frame and a mask for some balls. If I use that it brings a masked balls up.)

So what am I doing wrong?  I have three versions of the hands in my MyFrames folder:

C:\Program Files\ScreenshotCaptor\MyFrames\handsholding2.png.mask
C:\Program Files\ScreenshotCaptor\MyFrames\handsholding2.png
C:\Program Files\ScreenshotCaptor\MyFrames\KunkelHands.png
C:\Program Files\ScreenshotCaptor\MyFrames\KunkelHands.png.mask
C:\Program Files\ScreenshotCaptor\MyFrames\Handsholding.png
C:\Program Files\ScreenshotCaptor\MyFrames\handsholding.png.mask

I can see the images in the MyFrames folder but none of them will apply to my active screenshotm in fact nothing happens.  However, any of the default frames that come with SSC in the other folders work fine.

I did re-scan and I can see the frames but just not apply them.

I put the KunkelHands.png in

C:\Program Files\ScreenshotCaptor\Frames\Set 1

and it seems to work

I think you have to create a folder in the frames directory, or use an existing one.

KunkelHands.png.mask is in that folder too.

Thanks cppm , you are correct, by moving the files into C:\Program Files\ScreenshotCaptor\Frames\Set 1 it worked.

However, using the handsholding2.png causes SSC to give this error: Access violation at address 00724360 in module 'ScreenshotCaptor.exe'. Read of address 00000000.

It is quite a cool frame and fair play to Kunkel321 for creating and sharing it.

Ok new test, download new copy of beta version and rename the mask to be:
handsholding2.png.maskpng

the first kunkelhands mask in the original zip is in jpg format so it should now be named:
KunkelHnads.png.maskjpg

Using v 4030, putting "handsholding2.png" and "handsholding2.png.mask.png" in a subfolder of the frames folder does seemed to have worked.

Will try the next beta now...

(Dare I suggest that Crainioscopical share his balls?)

That works fine.
Just the frame shows up under "Frames\" in the main UI…
Clicking that applies frame and mask.

They're already in the air.

Here's my result with the latest beta...

Now, who's going to account for the caption? <evil grin>

Okay, also working fine here...  I downloaded the latest beta (also 4030) and got rid of the dot "maskpng."

Oddly, the older versions of the masks (kunkelhands and holdingcircle) have worked throughout all of the above tests--and still do work.   All three of the frame/mask combos pictured below are currently working; but notice that the naming conventions are different.

Weird -eh?

So, what other interesting frame/mask combinations are you going to create for us?  :)

Hey Mouser, should these home-made mask and/or frames still work?  It's been several years since I've used the feature, but I just now tried it in v4.16.1, and no love.

I tried
name.png
name.png.mask

and I tried
name.png
name.png.maskpng

Neither works.  The built-in ones are fine--just the customs in MyFrames/ don't work.
Note also that the SSC help docs still indicate to use "name.png.mask."

Edit:  Also tried name.png.mask.png and tried putting everything in a subfolder.

They should still work.. Let me go investigate why they might not be.. I may have changed the way the files are named and not updates the help file in the right place.
