MIDI pass-through for VMware, how?

(1/2) > >>

superboyac:
I have an old school MIDI device, the Peavey 1600x (amazing unit).  The software to control all the commands and stuff is very old, like 1996.  So it runs on Windows XP, but has issues in later OSs.  So i tried using in a vmware XP machine, but the MIDI doesn't get passed through.  The midi is not USB, it's directly connected midi to my M-Audio 2496 sound card.  I tried a variety of things, but couldn't get it to work.  Is there any way to do this?

If nothing works, I'll have to use a midi-to-USB adapter to make it work, since vmware can transfer USB connections between the host and virtual machine.

Sigh...I know.  :-[

Cloq:
I think midi-to-USB adapter probably the best way to go.

I know vmware workstation 8.x seems to work (pass) rather well with just about any usb device.
