Append function
« on: September 17, 2012, 02:14 PM »
In the forum it was mentioned that appending clips was going to be added to CHS, has this been done? I can't seem to find instructions how to use it anywhere.
Thanks
Al

Hi delgado, welcome to the site

Do you mean combining/merging clips?

Can you elaborate on what you are interested in doing?

I think the existing merge function is much more powerful than any append function because you can selectively pick which clips you want to merge and which can be ignored (as append mistakes). And with the SHIFT key, you can quickly select contiguous clips to merge.

I wouldn't add too many redundant features; otherwise, CHS could get too confusing.

Yes combing/merging clips. I would like to merge clips into one clip as I'm copying and merging clips into one clip that are already on the CHS clipboard. It would also be nice if I could select the order of the merge, first copy/first added or last copy/first added.

You can already select a bunch of clips and merge them.
And there is the "stack" feature that lets you paste items from a stack in various ways.

You can't however, too easily control the order of merging clips.. One thing I could add is maybe a hotkey that says "merge the currently selected clip with the latest clip.  That could be used to manually but quickly merge a whole bunch of clips interactively..

That would be good, it is something you are planning to do soon?
Thanks
