write app tutorial

(1/1)

kalos:
hello!!

I need to write a tutorial how to use the GUI of an app and I need to take screenshots of the GUI and somehow highlight specific controls, assign a name to them and explain these at the text of the tutorial

is there any more convenient, fancy, etc way to do an app tutorial? (it must not contain animations or movies)

also, which simple program can help me create rectangular highlights on photos?

thanks!

Renegade:
Screenshot Captor?

If you need more than that, Photoshop or The GIMP?

I'm guessing you're writing in HTML/Word?

app103:
I agree. Screenshot Captor is made for that kind of stuff and has some really great tools for adding arrows, text, and other elements to enhance software tutorials.

If you want other options, you might also try ScreenSteps or StepShot.  I've used ScreenSteps, and it's top notch.  I have StepShot, but haven't had the opportunity to utilize it yet.
