A Merry Christmas card

I'd like to wish a very Merry Christmas to all DC members.
Let's not forget that Christmas is all about celebrating the birth of baby Jesus, over 2,000 years ago. It is a time of goodwill to all.

So, though I gather that US Congressmen may be no longer allowed to use the phrase "Merry Christmas" in any written communication on government business, I feel sure we might all be able to find our way to sending this Christmas Eurocard out to all - it's in support of an endangered species:

Try not to let "idiots with an agenda" spoil the season too much for you. Spoilsports thrive on the reactions they get.

My best suggestion? Do whatever you feel like doing and call their bluff.

The best response to holiday spoilers? (Learned this one from a 14-year old niece BTW.) First, smile your most infuriatingly sweet smile; next, roll your eyes ever so slightly - just to let them know "how cute" you think they are; and then, cheerfully say: Whatever! :Thmbsup:  ;D

I don't get the controversy
I really don't get the controversy. Like, who cares?

There are lots of religious holidays that promote positive values. I think those are good. How can anyone be offended by that? Whether or not you believe in any religion or any God/god/gods, why would you care?

Is this why the UK has "bank holidays"?

Are festive decorations offensive?

Now, the Indian festival of colours... That's a different matter... I think you really need to make certain that you're wearing clothes that can get all coloured. You do need a bit of warning for that one. But like seriously... if you're going to be showered in colours, you know ahead of time. :) (It sounds like a wicked cool festival/holiday!) But like how could anyone be offended by that?

One of my favourite holidays is Buddah's birthday. Like what's not to love? :P

I haven't seen/read/heard any kind of intelligent argument that would justify suppressing any kind of festival/holiday.

Am I just thick-skinned?

I actually know more people offended by Happy Holidays than Merry Christmas. Every year I am wished "Merry Christmas" by Christian, Muslim, Hindu, and atheist friends. Sometimes in a group of people with unknown backgrounds, I like to say "Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays" so people have to think too hard about their choice to be offended.

So Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from me!
